Terms of Service

Last updated: 30 March 2026

Hackathon Radar ("HR", "we", "us") is operated by Keanu, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. By using hackradar.tech or any of our services, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform.

What Hackathon Radar is

Hackathon Radar is a platform that helps students and developers discover hackathons and tech events. We also offer Passport profiles that let you showcase your hackathon history, and a community on Discord and WhatsApp.

Acceptable use

When using Hackathon Radar, you agree not to:

  • Spam — don't send unsolicited messages, submit fake events, or abuse any feature to promote unrelated content
  • Impersonate — don't pretend to be someone you're not, whether that's another user, an event organiser, or a member of the HR team
  • Post illegal content — don't upload or share anything that breaks UK law, including but not limited to hate speech, harassment, or copyrighted material you don't have rights to
  • Abuse the platform — don't attempt to exploit, scrape excessively, or interfere with the normal operation of the service

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice. We'll always try to explain why, but repeat or severe violations may result in immediate action.

Passport Pro subscription

Passport Pro is an optional paid subscription that gives you extra features on your Passport profile. Here's how billing works:

Pricing

  • Monthly — £3/month
  • Semester — £12 every 6 months
  • Annual — £25/year

All prices include VAT where applicable. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.

Cooling-off period

Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have 14 days from the date of purchase to cancel for a full refund, no questions asked. This applies to all subscription plans.

Refunds after 14 days

If you cancel after the 14-day cooling-off period, you'll receive a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of your current billing period. For example, if you're on the annual plan and cancel 3 months in, you'll be refunded for the remaining 9 months.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal, accessible from your Passport settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you'll keep access to Pro features until then.

Your content

Anything you add to your Passport profile (project descriptions, links, hackathon history) belongs to you. By posting it on Hackathon Radar, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display it on the platform. That's it — we won't use your content for anything else without your permission.

If you delete your account, we'll remove your content from public view within 72 hours (see our Privacy Policy for full details on data deletion).

Account termination

We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. If that happens:

  • We'll notify you by email with the reason, unless the violation is severe enough to warrant immediate action
  • If you're a Passport Pro subscriber, you'll receive a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of your subscription
  • You can appeal by emailing keanu@hackradar.tech

Limitation of liability

Hackathon Radar is provided "as is". We do our best to keep the platform running smoothly, accurate, and secure, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime or that every event listing is perfectly up to date.

Specifically:

  • We're not responsible for the accuracy of event listings submitted by third parties or scraped from external sources
  • We're not liable for any losses arising from your use of the platform, except where required by UK law
  • Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £100, whichever is greater
  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that UK law says we can't exclude

Availability

We aim to keep the service available at all times, but we may need to take it offline for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control. We'll try to give notice for planned downtime via our Discord server.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make changes that affect your rights, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice via email before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, though we'd much rather sort things out over email first.
